Progressive Enhancements Website Review

Q: What is the site name and URL you reviewed?

A: The site's name is developer.mozilla.org. The URL that I reviewed is https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Glossary/Progressive_Enhancement.

Q: What are Progressive Enhancements?

A: Progressive Enhancements is a method of making web pages that prioritize the site's core content, usability, and functionality first. Once these baselines are satisfied, additional features can be added for a more optimized experience.

Q: Why are Progressive Enhancements needed?

A: They are needed because different users have various browsers, device capabilities, and internet speeds that determine how a site's content can be consumed. The core content and functionality should be available to even the most limited browsers and devices.

Q: Does the site's home page validate?

A: No, the home page does not validate.

Q: Find any other page on the site. Does the second page validate?

A: No, Their CSS guide doesn't validate either.

Q: Document how many validation errors and/or warnings may exist on each of the two pages you validate.

A: The home page has 6 errors and 7 warnings. The second page just has 1 error and 2 warnings.

Q: How would you rate the site's design, on a scale of 1(horrible) to 10 (fantastic)? Why?

A: I would rate its design an 8 out of 10. I really like the option to change between light and dark mode. I also liked how the dropdown menu looks when you hover over it. Those things give an otherwise bland page a bit of vibrance and life to it.

Q: How would you rate the site's usability on a scale of 1 (horrible) to 10 (fantastic)? Why?

A: I would rate its usability a perfect 10 out of 10. The page shows you the most relevant information as soon as you visit it. The site also includes a handful of useful links, which include the dropdown menu and even a breadcrumb menu to help navigate the MDN Docs.

Q: Does the site meet its purpose?

A: Yes, the site meets its purpose of showing people what Progressive Enhancements are and how they work.
